Welcome to my diet blog

My first hope for this site is a selfish one - I hope to give myself some accountability, knowing that the occasional person may stumble across it. Secondly, I hope to provide some inspiration to others, because I know how frustrating and mentally taxing being on a diet can be. I’m kind of a hodge-podge dieter - I’m using the Weight Watchers points method to eat a South Beach phase II diet. Does that make sense? Meaning, I whole heartedly believe in the South Beach (phase II) way of eating/living, but I want to be sure I lose weight so I use WW points as my calorie tracking. My hope is to post my successes and frustrations and to help motivate others along similar paths. I’d like to lose about 60 pounds, having already lost almost 40 since my all time high weight of 237.
Keep on keepin on, right? Today is June 1st and yesterday was my 2nd WW meeting. I had lost 1.4 pounds since the previous week, which was great - especially since I hadn’t really committed. I do like weighing in on Saturday mornings for two reasons:
- I keeps me honest at least one of the weekend nights - leaves me with only Saturday to be concerned with higher calorie/higher salt/alcoholic beverages
- It allows me to weigh in before I actually consume anything. I hate having to think mid-day, “will this water or my lunch weigh much on the scale tonight”
I’d also like to use this as a way to post my plan for the next day, because I have learned that planning is truly the key to my success. Lack of, and I’m doomed.
